The Bald Doll

The Bald Doll

Hey everyone! Remember Chloe (see her video below)? She has been a lead player in helping get bald Bratz/Moxie dolls produced. Originally, the dolls were meant to represent alopecia and cancer patients until they met Chloe and learned about trichotillomania. With Chloe’s influence, the dolls have been made and are now on shelves at ToysRUs. True Hope Bratz/Moxie dolls are largely targeted towards cancer patients, but have also helped to spread the word about trichtoillomania and alopecia, making bald more acceptable. For every doll sold, one dollar goes to the City of Hope Charity in California. Click here to go to the City of Hope website.

Below is a picture of Chloe introducing the dolls to Erin Brockovich!

Awesome job spreading awareness Chloe! Keep up the amazing work.

Katherine’s Video

Katherine’s Video

Our first guest blog comes from Katherine who writes:

My name is Katherine, I am 16 years old and I have suffered from trichotillomania for over 5 years now. Everyday has been a battle with myself. I made these videos not only to document my journey with trich but also to reach out to fellow trichsters and help educate young people about trichotillomania. This specific video was made of me taking off my wig in order to show people how devastating trich can actually be . Please feel free to leave comments and view my other videos. I hope you have a pull free day!

As Katherine suggests, please visit the Trichotillomania Learning Center at trich.org to learn more about trich.

Climbing Steadily!

Climbing Steadily!

Hey everyone! Wow! Thanks so much for your support thus far! We’re up to almost 100 likes on facebook and 111 followers on twitter, but we know we can do better! Please continue to share us with your friends, family, and anyone else who might be interested in the cause.

This week Jillian is cutting a promo video to share with you. It will help launch the Trichster kickstarter page and hopefully help generate interest in the film. It’s been an uphill battle but we’re getting close! You can expect a finished video by next weekend!

Some of you have already been asking how you can donate. The best way for us to go about raising funds right now will be through our kickstarter page, which will launch at the end of next week. From that page you can simply enter in your credit card number and donate the amount you wish. Thanks for the enthusiasm!

If anyone would like us to feature their website, blog page, or battle with trichotillomania in this section of the website, let us know! We are eager to share stories and communicate that trich is more common than anyone realizes.

Stay tuned for the video, and thanks again!

That’s A Wrap!

That’s A Wrap!

Welcome to the very first blog post at trichster.com. We are so excited to be embarking on this crazy adventure and hope that you follow us every step of the way.

Today we wrapped day three of shooting. It’s incredible what we are learning from interviews given by random people on the street. Almost no one has heard of trich, but many were familiar with it once we gave them a definition. Everyone seems pretty shocked to learn that it affects 15 million people in America alone!

Let’s change that. Please help us to spread our facebook and twitter pages so we can get the word out about trichotillomania. We can make a difference!

To all you trichsters out there- please send us your photos! We want to feature a different trichster each week in the profile picture of our facebook page to show everyone that there are so many people living with trichotillomania out there. There’s no need to feel alone or ashamed. We can do this together!

Stay in touch- we’ll be blogging regularly. Set pictures and videos to come. For now, please
